چکیده
Trichomoniasis, caused by the protozoan Trichomonas gallinae, has as main hosts birds of Columbidae family, which have a high prevalence without manifesting disease. The continuous growth pigeon population and its cosmopolitan nature mean that today there is worldwide distribution this species, being responsible for maintenance trichomoniasis in almost entire world. transmission disease may be direct contact, or indirect, through food water. This indirect route reason why such wide range bird orders can infected, very different from columbids falconiformes, strigiformes, passerines, piciformes, psittaciformes, gruiformes, galliformes anseriformes. Thus, objective study was to evaluate presence T. gallinae passerines received at Wild Animal Screening Center. In order carry out study, 300 Passerine corresponding 23 species were analyzed, Fauna Rehabilitation Center (NURFS) Federal University Pelotas (UFPel), seasons year between months March October 2021. Samples swabs oropharynx collected all individuals, material immediately placed falcon tube containing Trypticase-Yeast Extract-Maltose (TYM) culture medium sent Laboratory Protozoology Entomology (LAPEn), incubation bacteriological greenhouse subsequent identification on slide wet mounting under an optical microscope 40X objective. Wet performed triplicate analyzed entirety. Of evaluated vitro 25 had inconclusive results submitted PCR analysis, negative gallinae. Although no positive Passeriformes found, monitoring occurrence must continue, it known easily cause possible epidemic, leading losses wild fauna endangered birds.

The finch epidemic strain of Trichomonas gallinae is predominant in British non-passerines.
Avian trichomonosis, caused by the flagellated protozoan Trichomonas gallinae, is a recently emerged infectious disease of British passerines. The aetiological agent, a clonal epidemic strain of the parasite, has caused unprecedented finch mortality and population-level declines in Britain and has since spread to continental Europe. To better understand the potential origin of this epidemic and...

BACKGROUND Development of new natural agents for parasitic diseases treatment has unexpectedly increased to overcome effectively against emergence and re-emergence of parasitic diseases, the appearance of drug resistant organisms and toxic side effects of current agents. The aim of the study was to evaluate antiprotozoal activities of chitosan biomolecule on trophozoites of Trichomonas gallinae...

متن کاملEffect of Cold Shock on the Metabolism of Trichomonas Gallinae
The influence of cold (4°C)used to prepare cells for metabolic investigations was examined with Trichomonas gallinae in this study. Cells washed withcold diluent in a refrigerated centrifuge were found to be less stimulated in their gas production at 37°C when exposed to glucose ormaltose than cells washed at room temperature conditions. Such cold-prepared cells had higher initial glycogen cont...
متن کاملIn vitro and in vivo activity of Artemisia sieberi against Trichomonas gallinae
In Iranian folk medicine Artemisia sieberi has been used for treatment of parasite infections in human and animals. The present study was designed to evaluate the in vitro and in vivo effects of A. sieberi essential oil (EO) against Trichomonas gallinae. Trichomonas gallinae were recovered by wet mount method from infected native pigeons. The in vitro assays were accomplished in multi-well plat...
